About Us

Karen Crebase

After attending Colby College in Maine and teaching elementary school in Houston, Texas, Karen returned to the East Coast to complete her graduate work at Harvard University.  Upon graduation, she has worked for over 30 years as a School Administrator and is currently the Superintendent in Hopedale.

Throughout her career, she has enjoyed working as an administrative mentor, a consultant/coach leading school districts K-12 when implementing new standards and curriculum, and as a presenter at conferences such as the National School Board Association in Philadelphia, the Learn Launch Summit at Fenway Park, and the National Association of School Superintendents conference in San Antonio.  She has been a member of the M.A.S.S. Executive Committee for the past four years, and serves as President Elect for M.A.S.S.

During her tenure in Hopedale, she has maintained a focus on college and career planning,  developed STEM opportunities for our students that include Computer Science K-12, Innovative Pathways, and an extensive internship program.  A highlight for her and her district was being selected as a 2023 National Blue Ribbon Award Recipient.  

Personally, she enjoys biking and completes bike races in order to raise funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.  Her family includes two teenage children who enjoy traveling and assist in planning their yearly summer road trip.  Reading and learning are her lifelong passions.

Karen Cosgrove

Karen Cosgrove is a dedicated and collaborative educational leader with a passion for enhancing student growth and fostering meaningful partnerships among educators, families, and students. With a career spanning classroom teaching and administrative roles, Karen is committed to advancing inclusive practices and ensuring academic independence and agency for all learners.

After Providence College undergraduate, she completed a Master’s in Special Education and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Educational Leadership from Bridgewater State University. Her career commenced as a special education classroom teacher, where she demonstrated a deep commitment to her students’ success. Currently, she serves as a Pupil Personnel Director, leading district-wide efforts to develop robust systems and support for student achievement through highly trained staff.

Karen’s leadership philosophy centers on motivating, challenging, and expanding the practices and pedagogies of educators to align with the evolving needs of students. Through collaboration in Leadership cohorts, chairing Director Consortiums and guiding a multitude of administration professional learning communities, she has honed her expertise in creating strategic, impactful programs that drive student and staff success.

A recognized leader in the field, Karen serves as President of the Board of Directors in adult services programs dedicated to promoting independence and quality of life. She was honored with the 2010 Outstanding Teacher Recognition Award. As the parent of an adult daughter with significant disabilities and a guide for families throughout her career, she has extensive expertise in adult services transition planning and process. 

Karen’s commitment to education is driven by her belief in the potential of all students to thrive when supported by innovative teaching, strong systems, and collaborative relationships.
